We are now providing NARCAN for our high risk clients at risk of opioid overdose.  This life-saving medication is available free for those who qualify.  Not a client of ours?  No problem!  NARCAN is available in South Carolina at most pharmacies for anyone without a prescription.  Most insurance plans and Medicaid cover it.

Adult Services

With an emphasis on individuality, the Dawn Center tailors services to meet the unique needs of each client it serves. The starting point after an appointment has been made is to have an Assessment completed. This service is designed to allow the counselor and client to discover the issues that are causing concern and discomfort and begin the process of developing a plan to resolve those issues. From that point, the counselor may recommend a variety of services to meet those needs. Services may include Individual Counseling, Group Counseling, Family Counseling, or a combination of the above. Opiate Addiction is an emerging problem but one that we have been able to address with much success.  Individuals with an opiate or alcohol addiction may be eligible to receive medication management utilizing some evidenced-based medications designed specifically to treat opiate withdrawal and addiction and alcohol addiction.  This can prevent high-cost inpatient services and allow the client to remain on the job and in their natural home environment.  If services are needed that we cannot provide, the counselor will work with the client to refer them to another provider for appropriate services.

Specific Programs

  • Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP)

Individuals arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in South Carolina must participate and successfully complete this intervention and treatment program to regain their privilege to drive again in the state of South Carolina. This program is psycho-educational in nature and designed to lower the risks of operating a vehicle while under the influence of substances.

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Tri-County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse contracts with local business and industry to provide a treatment benefit for their employees and families who may be experiencing problems related to substance use, marital/relationship difficulties, grief, parenting or any other particular problem. The goal is to assist the employee in resolving the issues that are or may create problems with productivity. There is no cost to the employers or immediate family members of contracting companies.  If you are unsure if your business contracts with us, you may check with your Human Resources Office or contact us and we can let you know.

  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Services

Companies that must comply with DOT requirements for pre-employment physical exams, alcohol and drug testing, Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) Assessments, and SAP Treatment Services, can find all of those services available at the Dawn Center. Although DOT regulations specifically indicate all of these services cannot be performed by a single agency, the Dawn Center meets the DOT waiver requirements and is the only Agency in the Tri-County area to offer all of these services. Employers of DOT-regulated personnel who refer their employees to the Dawn Center for DOT-compliant services will enjoy the convenience, efficiency, and efficacy of dealing with one entity versus the difficulties inherent in trying to coordinate information from multiple points of contact.

  •  Intensive Outpaient Program (IOP)

Individuals with moderate to severe substance abuse problems are offered a structured program that meets 3 days per week for 3 hours each day in order to develop skills needed to live a substance free lifestyle.  Combining a mixture of individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, life skills development, relapse prevention and introduction to theself-help community, IOP services are appropriate for individuals who have a desire to change their behaviors and live in or have a supportive environment.  Hours of operation are Monday - 11:30 - 4:45; Tuesday 11:30 - 4:45; and Thursday 1:30 - 4:45.  Multi-family groups are held on Thursdasy evenings 5:30 - 7:00.
